Integrated Dual Clutch Design From Honda Requires Proper Care

Your Honda uses an Integrated Dual Clutch Design, which makes the car more responsive and fun to drive. Here's an overview of the number of moving gears and the sophisticatedness of your I-DCD system

However, this I-DCD design requires special care & maintenance for the clutch and the transmission to avoid costly repairs down the road.

1. Dual Clutch Actuator fluid flush and change @ every 20,000 km

Based on local driving conditions, it is best to change at these recommended intervals as the clutch actuator works doubly hard. In addition, there is also moisture build-up. The fluid boiling points are first read and recorded before conducting the change.

The picture above shows the overheated clutch fluid leaking from the actuator circuit. There is also deposit build-up from the clutch wearing out from aggressive driving.

2. Transmission fluid DW-1 @ every 30,000 km

Best to replace at these recommended intervals due to the temperature build-up in the transmission and heat transfer from the dual-clutch assembly in stop-start heavy traffic.

3. Brake System fluid flush and change @ every 2 years or 60,000 km

As the brake systems are equipped with ABS, VSA, EPB and integrated with the Honda Sensing system, a fresh fluid change will prevent you from costly brake part replacements and repairs. This will also keep the internal hydraulic moving parts in optimal form, improving its reliability.

4. Cooling System flush and Coolant change @ every 3 years or 100,000 km

Same reasoning as the above, the fresh coolant keeps the components in the system functioning well, thus reducing maintenance. This will benefit the owner in the long-term.

7. P0420 Catalytic Converter Software Update Fix

One of the most common problems plaguing Honda Hybrids is the P0420 error code (Catalytic Converter below Threshold) which would cost roughly north of S$1,000 to change! Even after changing the cat converter, there may be a chance that it may still come back one day. The root cause of the problem is that the Cat Converter sensor is too sensitive and that causes the error codes to trip.

The hevshop team is able to fix this issue with our Honda original factory software update (Worth $250), to update the catalytic converter sensor parameters (still within LTA emission inspection guidelines).
